Portals (Floating Ice Caves, Rødefjord, Greenland 2012)

Inches above the freezing Arctic waters, we peer into openings through multiple eroding bergs to the background of deep reds of Greenland's Red Fjord. Fanciful figures cavort amongst the dripping meltwaters. Transparency variations hint at the ancient ice's transformational life cycles and seniorities. Trapped bits of rock are carried a long way away from their brethren, only sink to the sea bottom as they are released in time.
