Inspiring. This incredible sculpture towered 40 or 50 feet in the air, yearning for the sky while staying connected and balancing itself. As it stretched, it emoted fragility, vulnerability, and a desire to release, but swayed by a fear of disconnecting. Looking up at it from the black lava sand shore, I couldn't help but wonder about man's drive to create art. I realized that it is not our trait, but rather our simply resonating, channeling, mirroring, and expressing Nature's universal energies and tendencies. I tracked this elegant spire across three days and then it was gone, vanished – a great example of the "original" performance art - exquisitely beautiful dynamic, and transient.
