Homeward Bound (Monacobreen, Svalbard)
A 17-story tall column of ice calves explosively from the glacier face, throwing VW bug-sized chunks of ice high into the air and creating a bow wave that threatens to swamp the inflatable zodiak supporting us amidst the ice filled waters off the coast of the Northern-most populated place on Earth. The blue-green ice face is said to be about 12,000-15,000 years old.
