Something Beyond (Plenneau Bay, Antarctica, 2007)
Icebergs are endlessly fascinating. No two are alike. One could spend days making portraits of the various personalities, places, mythical creatures visible in these nature-carved sculptures. However, when photographing bergs from zodiaks in polar regions, instead of days, one usually only has a couple of hours. I maximize the experience by having two or even three camera bodies hanging from my neck, each with a different focal length lens to quickly capture broad vistas with wide angle, out of reach scenes with telephotos, and closeups with medium range lenses. The required gear investment is significant, but very worthwhile to capture the magical moments. I am organizing an Antarctica trip via a small sailboat to allow a select group to have longer experiences in the exotic ice's homes. Lemme know if you're interested! www.ChrisOgden.com
